Brewers 6, Yankees 5: Rickie Weeks drove in a pair of runs and scored on Mark Reynolds' two-out single in the ninth as Milwaukee picked up a walk-off win to take the rubber game of a three-game set.
Brewers closer Francisco Rodriguez (1-0) gave up a solo shot to Mark Teixeira with two outs in the top of the ninth to blow his first save after converting 15 straight to start the year. Weeks had a broken-bat double with one out in the bottom half, moved to third on a wild pitch by Adam Warren (1-2) and came in when Reynolds lined one past a diving Yangervis Solarte at third base.
Logan Schafer, Lyle Overbay and Jonathan Lucroy drove on one run apiece for Milwaukee. Solarte and Kelly Johnson each had two RBIs for New York while Teixeira scored three times.
Johnson and Solarte keyed a three-run rally in the first off Brewers starter Matt Garza, who gave up three runs in five innings and doubled and scored in a two-run third. Lucroy had the third straight single to begin the bottom of the sixth to tie it and Schafer followed with a double into the right-field corner to put Milwaukee up 4-3.
Weeks added a grounder to short that scored Lucroy with the third run of the frame, which gave the Brewers a two-run cushion before Solarte's RBI single in the seventh made it 5-4. Rodriguez, who had 19 scoreless innings on the season entering the ninth, retired Derek Jeter and Jacoby Ellsbury before a 3-2 changeup to Teixeira was golfed out to right to tie it.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The Yankees placed LH CC Sabathia on the 15-day disabled list with a knee injury, while the Brewers were expected to put 3B Aramis Ramirez (hamstring) on the DL on Monday. ... Jeter was honored in pregame festivities with the latest in a season-long series of tributes from opponents. He was handed a bronze bat and a $10,000 check made out to his Turn 2 Foundation. ... The Yankees return home to host the Mets to begin the next edition of the Subway Series on Monday, while the Brewers have a day off before they welcome Pittsburgh to town Tuesday.
