Freddie Freeman had two hits and drove in five runs and Dansby Swanson lashed out two hits with four RBIs, including a key three-run homer, as the Atlanta Braves stormed back to beat the host Washington Nationals 13-9 on Saturday.

The Braves, who trailed 8-4, have won 12 of their last 15 games.

Washington was trying to reach the .500 mark for the first time since April 23, but its bullpen gave up nine runs, including three by Trevor Rosenthal in the seventh when he failed to retire a batter.

Washington, which had won a season-high five straight games, led 8-4 before the Braves scored four in the seventh and four in the eighth. Juan Soto was 3-for-4 with four RBIs for the Nationals.

Johan Camargo had an RBI double in the top of the eighth for the Braves off reliever and loser Joe Ross (0-1) to tie the game at 9-9. Swanson hit a three-run homer later in the inning off Ross to make it 12-9. Charlie Culberson had an RBI double in the ninth for a 13-9 advantage.

Washington's Anthony Rendon had scored on a wild pitch from A.J. Minter in the last of the seventh to break a tie and give the Nationals a lead of 9-8 -- but it didn't last. The winning pitcher was Minter (1-4), who gave up one run while pitching the seventh.

Atlanta scored four runs in the seventh to tie the game at 8-8 as Swanson walked with the bases loaded and Freeman had a three-run double. Freeman has driven in a run in 10 games in a row to set an Atlanta record.

Washington scored three in the first as Soto had an RBI single and Matt Adams hit a two-run homer.

Tyler Flowers of the Braves hit a solo homer in the third to trim the lead to 3-1.

But the Nationals responded with two runs in the last of the third as Soto had a two-run triple for a 5-1 advantage.

Nick Markakis had an RBI single in the fourth to trim the margin to 5-2.

Freeman had a two-run single off starter Anibal Sanchez in the fifth to make it 5-4.

Rendon scorched an RBI single in the fifth as Washington assumed a 6-4 lead and sent starter Mike Foltynewicz to the showers. He gave up eight earned runs on eight hits in four innings. Sanchez allowed four runs in six innings.
