Mike Soroka's historic start to his rookie season ended Saturday, but outfielder Austin Riley's record start continued as the Atlanta Braves ended their three-game losing streak with a 10-5 victory over the visiting Detroit Tigers.

Atlanta stopped Detroit's three-game winning streak and evened the series at a game apiece.

Soroka (6-1) had not allowed more than one earned run in any of his first eight starts. He pitched 6 2/3 innings and allowed four runs (three earned) on seven hits, with no walks and five strikeouts.

Soroka, who won his sixth consecutive decision, was trying to become the first pitcher in the live-ball era to open a season by allowing one or fewer earned runs over nine starts. Soroka equaled the mark set by Mike Norris in 1980 and matched by Edinson Volquez in 2008.

Riley hit a long two-run homer in the sixth inning and became the fourth player to hit at least eight homers through the first 16 games of his career. The others are Rhys Hoskins, Carlos Delgado and Trevor Story.

Atlanta closer Luke Jackson pitched the final 1 2/3 innings, striking out five of the six batters he faced, and earned his eighth save.

Detroit starter Daniel Norris (2-4) took the loss. He allowed six runs (five earned) on six hits and one walk in 5 1/3 innings.

The Tigers opened the scoring in the first on Brandon Dixon's RBI single.

Atlanta took the lead in the fourth when Freddie Freeman hit a two-run homer, his 14th.

Christin Stewart, who was 3-for-5, singled in two runs in the fifth, which put Detroit ahead 3-2 and ended Soroka's streak.

The Braves scored twice in the fifth. Ronald Acuna Jr. had an RBI single and Dansby Swanson drove in a run with an infield out.

Detroit got a run in the seventh on Niko Goodrum's run-scoring triple get within 6-4, but Atlanta got it back in the bottom half on Swanson's solo homer, his 11th.

The Tigers closed the margin to 7-5 in the eighth against reliever Jacob Webb with back-to-back doubles by Dixon and John Hicks. But the Braves answered with three in the bottom half on an RBI double by pinch hitter Johan Camargo and Acuna's two-run single.
