Diamondbacks 5, Mets 4: Paul Goldschmidt belted his second career walk-off homer with one out in the ninth inning as host Arizona recorded its third straight victory.
After Scott Atchison (2-1) retired Martin Prado to begin the ninth, Goldschmidt deposited a hanging slider over the wall in right-center field for his 27th homer - tying him with Pittsburgh's Pedro Alvarez for the National League lead.
Wil Nieves ripped a two-run double to snap a tie in the sixth inning. Adam Eaton and Prado hit back-to-back RBI doubles in the fifth for the Diamondbacks, who have won four of six to remain 5 1/2 games behind the first-place Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League West.
Justin Turner hit a pair of RBI singles and drove in his third run with a groundout in the eighth inning. Wilmer Flores forged a 4-4 tie later in the frame with an RBI groundout for the Mets, who saw their three-game winning streak come to an end.
Brad Ziegler (5-1) retired the side in order in the ninth inning to pick up the victory.
GAME NOTEBOOK: New York RF Marlon Byrd nearly opened the scoring, leading off the second inning with a blast that caromed off the center-field wall. Byrd, however, saw his bid for an inside-the-park homer - and the 100th shot of his career - come up short as he was thrown out at the plate following a brilliant relay. ... Arizona LHP Patrick Corbin allowed two runs on four hits in six innings but saw his bid for his 13th victory go up in smoke after former Met Heath Bell yielded two runs in the eighth. ... New York RHP Jeremy Hefner's winless stretch reached six starts as he received a no-decision. He permitted four runs on eight hits in five-plus innings.
