Braves 3, Diamondbacks 0: Julio Teheran struck out 10 over six scoreless innings and Andrelton Simmons homered as host Atlanta handed Arizona its first shutout of the season.
Teheran (6-4) limited the Diamondbacks to four hits and one walk, and Luis Avilan and Jordan Walden bridged the gap to Craig Kimbrel, who worked around a one-out walk in the ninth to finish off the four-hitter and record his 23rd save.
Arizona starter Randall Delgado (0-2) was the tough-luck loser, allowing two runs on eight hits over six innings. The former Braves right-hander, who was acquired in the deal that sent Justin Upton to Atlanta in January, struck out three and walked three.
Upton's RBI single up the middle put the Braves on top in the first, and Delgado settled down and kept Atlanta off the board until Simmons' blast leading off the fifth.
The Braves pushed home an insurance run in the eighth as Reed Johnson got down a safety squeeze to score Dan Uggla. Jason Heyward, B.J. Upton and Uggla each had two hits for Atlanta.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The Braves retired No. 10 in honor of Chipper Jones in a pregame ceremony. Jones is the 10th player to have his number retired by the franchise. … Atlanta CF Jordan Schafer was a late scratch from the lineup because of a sore right ankle from fouling a ball off it Wednesday at Kansas City. … Arizona activated 3B Eric Chavez from the disabled list and designated 1B Eric Hinske for assignment.
