Justin Masterson raised his record to 4-0 and Shin-Soo Choo's RBI double keyed a four-run sixth inning as the Cleveland Indians defeated the host Kansas City Royals 7-5 on Wednesday night.
The Indians didn't have a baserunner through five innings against Luke Hochevar (2-2), who allowed five hits and committed two balks - one which
forced in a run - in the sixth as the Indians got RBI doubles by Matt
LaPorta, Choo and Travis Hafner.
Masterson recovered from a two-run first to shut out Kansas City over the next five innings. He gave up six hits, walked five and struck out three.
Jack Hannahan added a two-run double in the seventh, and Carlos Santana had an RBI double in the ninth for the Indians.
Hochevar was charged with six runs in six-plus innings.
Kansas City's Alex Gordon extended his hitting streak to a major-league best 14 games with an RBI triple in the first, and Jeff Francoeur followed with a two-out single.
The Royals scored three runs in the ninth, including Francoeur's two-run homer to make it 7-5.
