Robby Fabbri produced two goals and an assist and the Detroit Red Wings snapped a 12-game losing streak by defeating the visiting Winnipeg Jets 5-2 on Thursday.
Filip Zadina and Filip Hronek had a goal and two assists apiece for Detroit, which lost 5-1 at Winnipeg on Tuesday. Darren Helm also scored for the Red Wings and Jonathan Bernier made 26 saves.
Kyle Connor scored both goals for the Jets, with assists from Mark Scheifele, and Connor Hellebuyck stopped 29 shots.
The Red Wings outshot the Jets 14-5 in the opening period but needed some luck to gain a 2-0 lead.
Jets defenseman Nathan Beaulieu lost the puck near his blue line, and Helm pounced on it. Beaulieu skated into an official, allowing Helm to have a breakaway opportunity, and the Detroit winger converted, lifting the puck over Hellebucyk's catching glove at 7:49.
The Red Wings converted on the only power play of the period. Zadina backhanded a pass to Fabbri, who also tried to make a pass. The puck bounced off the skate of defenseman Neal Pionk and past Hellebuyck at 13:47. Hronek was credited with the second assist.
Detroit led 4-2 after two periods.
Fabbri had Pionk to thank again for his second goal of the night. Just after a Red Wings power play expired, Zadina passed the puck to Fabbri, who fired a shot from the right circle. Hellebuyck made the save, but the rebound deflected off Pionk and into the net.
That goal at 3:35 was matched by Winnipeg's first goal of the night at 7:16. Connor redirected a blast from the point by Beaulieu. Scheifele won a faceoff in the Red Wings' zone prior to the shot.
Connor's second goal came on a shot from the slot off a Patrik Laine feed at 12:57.
The Red Wings took advantage of a power-play opportunity in the final minute of the period. Zadina scored his first goal of the season, a shot that deflected off a defenseman's skate and beat Hellebuyck on the short side.
Hronek clinched Detroit's long-awaited victory on an empty-netter with 1:52 remaining. He flipped the puck from behind his own net to the opposite end.
The Red Wings had last each of their past 10 games in regulation immediately following losses in overtime and in a shootout. Winnipeg saw its two-game winning streak and four-game point streak (3-0-1) end.
