Rangers 3, Canadiens 2 (OT): Martin St. Louis scored 6:02 into overtime as host New York moved within one victory of advancing to the Stanley Cup final for the first time in 20 years.

Alex Galchenyuk, who netted the overtime winner in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference final, nearly had the decisive tally in Game 4 but hit the crossbar with 3:15 to play in the third period. The Rangers survived Montreal's eighth power-play opportunity in overtime before St. Louis settled Carl Hagelin's pass and wired a shot from the right faceoff circle that sailed over the left shoulder of Dustin Tokarski (26 saves) for his fourth career overtime winner in the postseason.

Derick Brassard returned from a two-game absence to score late in the second period, Hagelin had a short-handed tally and Henrik Lundqvist made 27 saves for New York, which travels to Montreal for Game 5 on Tuesday. The Rangers outscored the Canadiens by a 10-3 margin en route to winning the first two contests of the series at Bell Centre.

P.K. Subban scored a power-play goal for his first point of the series for the Canadiens, who went 1-for-8 with the man advantage. Fellow defenseman Francis Bouillon also tallied and David Desharnais notched two assists in the loss.

Defenseman Dan Girardi alertly caught Montreal in a line change and wired a stretch pass to Brassard, who blasted the puck inside the left post with 56 seconds remaining in the second period to give New York a 2-1 lead. The Canadiens converted on their sixth power-play opportunity as Subban rifled a shot from the point past a screened Lundqvist two minutes into the third to forge their second tie of the contest.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Hagelin reeled in a stretch pass from C Brian Boyle before backhanding the puck between the pads of Tokarski 7:18 into the first period to open the scoring. The Swedish Olympian's short-handed goal was the Rangers' first in the postseason since Ryan Callahan scored on April 9, 2008 - a span of 70 games. ... Lundqvist was credited with an assist on Brassard's tally, his first point in 85 career playoff contests. ... Rangers LW J.T.
