Penguins 2, Senators 1 (OT): James Neal scored 1:55 into overtime as Pittsburgh recorded its 16th victory in its last 17 home outings.
Marc-Andre Fleury preserved a 1-1 tie midway through the third period with a brilliant glove save while falling to the ice on Ottawa defenseman Erik Karlsson, who dropped to his knees in disbelief. Neal ended the contest after settling a loose puck in the slot before patiently skating into the right circle before wiring a shot past Craig Anderson (46 saves).
Brian Gibbons netted a power-play goal and Fleury turned aside 24 shots to register his NHL-best 30th victory for the Penguins, who avenged a 5-0 loss to Ottawa on Dec. 23.
Stephane Da Costa scored his third goal in three games for the Senators, who have dropped six of their last nine contests (3-3-3).
Da Costa opened the scoring 14:05 into the first period after skating into the left circle and wristing a shot over the right shoulder of Fleury. Gibbons answered 2:18 later after deflecting rookie defenseman Olli Maatta's blast from the point past Anderson.
