Bruins 6, Flyers 1: Jarome Iginla scored two goals and set up two others for his 21st career four-point performance and captain Zdeno Chara tallied twice as visiting Boston blasted Philadelphia.
Reilly Smith and Patrice Bergeron also scored to extend their respective point streaks to five games. David Krejci notched three assists and Tuukka Rask turned aside 25 shots as the Bruins improved to 3-0-1 in their last four contests and sent the Flyers to their fourth straight setback (0-3-1).
Captain Claude Giroux's power-play goal from the top of the left circle ended Rask's bid for his NHL-leading sixth shutout at 7:55 of the third period. Giroux's 15th goal trimmed the deficit to 4-1, but Iginla answered 26 seconds later and Chara added his second of the contest in short order.
Boston dominated the opening portion of the first period before Chara drew first blood at 6:30 after banking his centering feed from below the goal line off the skate of Philadelphia defenseman Braydon Coburn and into the net. Iginla doubled the advantage with 18 seconds remaining in the session after his quick release from the top of the right circle handcuffed Steve Mason (15 saves).
Smith gave the Bruins a 3-0 lead 6:59 into the second after splitting a pair of Flyers defenders before sending a shot that hit the right post and caromed off Mason before trickling over the goal line. Bergeron extended the lead as he cleaned up a rebound following Brad Marchand's shot from the left circle to end Mason's afternoon.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Marchand saw his goal-scoring stretch end at four contests, but has six goals and two assists on his five-game point streak. Bergeron scored three goals and set up five others during his stretch and Smith collected one goal and four assists on his streak. ... Philadelphia G Ray Emery made 12 saves in relief of Mason. ... Chara scored for the first time since he tallied twice against Calgary on Dec. 17. ... Bruins D Dougie Hamilton returned from a four-game absence due to a concussion. He was stopped on a breakaway late in the second period.
