Stars 5, Predators 2: Rookie Alex Chiasson recorded his second two-goal performance in three contests as visiting Dallas extended its winning streak to four games.
Ray Whitney recorded a power-play goal and an assist, Erik Cole and Tom Wandell also scored and Richard Bachman made 26 saves for the Stars, who climbed within two points of Detroit for eighth place in the Western Conference.
Taylor Beck and Bobby Butler tallied while Chris Mason stopped 13 shots for Nashville, which suffered its fifth straight loss.
Cole opened the scoring with a blast from above the slot at 6:04 of the first period and Whitney beat Mason with a one-timer from low in the left faceoff circle less than three minutes later to make it 2-0. After Beck converted a man-advantage opportunity late in the session, Wandell restored Dallas' two-goal lead 2:28 into the second with his first goal.
Chiasson took over from there, streaking past two defenders in the slot and converting a nifty pass from Whitney with 8:48 remaining in the period to give the Stars a 5-1 advantage. The 22-year-old completed his multi-goal effort at 7:03 of the third, when he wristed the puck past Mason from the top of the right circle.
