Blackhawks 3, Oilers 2 (OT): Marian Hossa scored 1:44 into overtime as host Chicago rallied to extend its record start to the season.
Patrick Sharp gained the zone and drove to the net before being stopped by Nikolai Khabibulin. Sharp and Hossa each took whacks at the rebound, and the latter was successful on his second chance.
Patrick Kane and Viktor Stalberg scored in regulation and Ray Emery made 17 saves for the Blackhawks, who have earned points in each of in their first 19 games (16-0-3). Dating to the 2011-12 regular season, Chicago has gone 25 consecutive games without a regulation loss - the third-longest streak in NHL history.
Defenseman Jeff Petry scored while short-handed and rookie Nail Yakupov added a power-play goal for Edmonton, which was beginning a nine-game road trip. Khabibulin stopped 31 shots.
Petry opened the scoring at 4:28 of the first period, putting a rebound over a prone Emery after Lennart Petrell pounced on a turnover by Blackhawks defenseman Duncan Keith and skated in alone. Kane tied the contest 62 seconds later during the same power play, taking the puck along the left-wing boards and skating into the slot before putting a backhand shot by Khabibulin.
Yakupov gave Edmonton a 2-1 lead in the second period with his sixth of the season when he one-timed a cross-slot pass from Sam Gagner past Emery. Stalberg jammed in a loose puck in the crease 2:24 into the third to keep Chicago's streak alive.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The 1979-80 Philadelphia Flyers own the league record for the longest point streak with a 35-game run. The Montreal Canadiens went 28 contests in a row without a regulation loss in 1977-78. ... Oilers LW Taylor Hall served the second contest of his two-game suspension for a hit on Minnesota’s Cal Clutterbuck last week. Hall will be eligible to return at Dallas on Thursday. … Emery improved to 8-0-0 on the season.
