BLACKHAWKS 2, CANUCKS 1 (OT): Rookie Andrew Shaw scored at 2:42 of overtime as Chicago edged Northwest Division-leading Vancouver to extend its winning streak to five games.
Patrick Kane also tallied and Corey Crawford made 23 saves for the Blackhawks, who have earned at least one point in seven straight games overall (6-0-1) and six in a row at home (5-0-1). Chicago pulled within one point of Detroit for fourth place in the Western Conference.
Vancouver's Daniel Sedin left the game late in the first period and did not return. Sedin was elbowed in the face by Chicago defenseman Duncan Keith and remained in the contest for the ensuing power play but departed shortly thereafter.
Dave Bolland made a pass from along the left-wing boards to Johnny Oduya in the high slot. The defenseman unleashed a shot that deflected off Shaw's leg and past Roberto Luongo, giving the 20-year-old his fourth goal in three games.
Vancouver grabbed the lead just 27 seconds into the contest as he got past Oduya on the right wing and beat Crawford to the stick side from the faceoff circle to end his 15-game goalless drought. The tally was only Hansen's second in 29 contests.
The Blackhawks pulled even early in the second on Patrick Kane's 20th goal.
Marian Hossa shoveled the puck into the crease from the right side after receiving a pass from Andrew Brunette. The puck caromed off Luongo and directly to Kane, who buried it from the inner edge of the left circle.
Kane, who has notched at least one point in six of his last seven games, has reached the 20-goal plateau in each of his five NHL seasons.
Luongo turned aside 35 shots for the Canucks, who fell to 0-2-0 on their four-game road trip. Vancouver has lost four consecutive road contests and eight of 11 overall.
