Chris Higgins scored two goals and Stephen Weiss scored and added an assist to lead the visiting Florida Panthers to a 4-3 victory over the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday.

Jason Garrison scored his second goal of the season at 14:53 of the third period to snap a 3-3 tie after the Panthers jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period. Tomas Vokoun made 39 saves to pick up his 13th win of the year.

Higgins opened the scoring with his fourth of the year just 70 seconds into the game from Evgeny Dadonov. Weiss made it 2-0 on the power play with his 10th of the season at 12:09 before Higgins buried his second of the night less than two minutes later with Weiss drawing an assist.

Jordan Leopold cut Florida’s lead with his eighth goal of the season 5:44 from Jason Pominville and Jochen Hecht before Pominville scored his sixth on the power play less than three minutes later. Leopold struck again at the 12:21 mark to tie the game heading into the third period.

Ryan Miller made 24 saves in a losing effort.
