Tomas Vokoun turned aside all 36 shots he faced and Michael Frolik scored with one second remaining in the second period as the visiting Florida Panthers skated to a 3-0 triumph over the Washington Capitals on Thursday in a battle of Southeast Division rivals.
Steve Bernier and Mike Santorelli also tallied and Stephen Weiss notched a pair of assists as Florida (13-14-0) recorded its third straight victory and handed Washington (18-9-3) its first four-game losing skid since October 2009.
Frolik netted his sixth of the season by cleaning up a loose puck on the doorstep as the clock ticked down in the second period.
Bernier added his fourth of the campaign at 8:10 of the third period after wiring a loose puck past an already prone Semyon Varlamov, and Santorelli tucked the puck into an open net to cap the scoring with 2:34 to play.
Vokoun collected his third shutout of the season and 41st career by stopping 18 shots in the first period, nine in the second and nine in the third.
Division-leading Washington swept the season series against Florida in the 2009-10 campaign - with five of the victories being decided by at least three goals.
On Thursday, the Capitals failed to score on eight power-play opportunities - including five in the first period alone.
Varlamov turned aside 29 shots to fall to 4-3-0 this season.
