Nic Richards had 15 points and 11 rebounds and Vasilije Micic supplied 12 points and 10 assists for the Hornets, who shot 54.3 percent from the field and prevailed despite committing 16 turnovers.
Charlotte's losing streak was the NBA's longest active skid after the Washington Wizards shed their 16-game streak by beating the Hornets on Friday night.
The Nets, who held a 12-point first-quarter lead, lost another critical game to one of the league's worst teams after falling two nights earlier to the Detroit Pistons.
Cam Thomas returned from a six-game injury absence to score 31 points for the Nets. He was 12-of-24 shooting from the field, including draining five 3-pointers.
Teammate Mikal Bridges notched 19 points, Nic Claxton had 14 points and 10 rebounds and Dennis Schroder notched 12 points and seven assists for the Nets, who are 9-21 in road games.
Brooklyn was within six at 96-90 before missing its next six shots and committing a turnover in a three-minute span. The Nets scored only nine points in the final seven-plus minutes.
The Nets launched 90 shots from the field, including a 14-for-42 mark on 3-pointers. They collected 16 offensive rebounds, but all those chances didn't add up to enough.
The Hornets have been using makeshift lineups, in large part because of injuries. They received key contributions off the bench from Davis Bertans, who had 11 points and four assists.
Miller was only 2-for-10 on 3s, but he made 8-of-11 shots from 2-point range. Miles Bridges was 10-for-15 from the floor.
The Hornets led 63-52 at halftime by holding the Nets to 17 second-quarter points. The Nets also managed only 17 points in the fourth quarter.
