Troy Terry moved into a tie for fourth place in the NHL's goal-scoring race with his 18th of the season and Anthony Stolarz made 19 saves as the Anaheim Ducks defeated the visiting Seattle Kraken 4-1 Wednesday night.
Trevor Zegras, Derek Grant and Sam Carrick also scored for the Pacific Division-leading Ducks, who improved to 5-1-2 this month.
Stolarz made the start because John Gibson was still dealing with a lower-body injury suffered Saturday in Pittsburgh. Stolarz has won six consecutive decisions after losing his first two starts of the season.
Ryan Donato scored the lone goal for Seattle. Philipp Grubauer stopped 15 of 18 shots through two periods, but was shaken up in a collision late in the second with Carrick and sat out the third. Chris Driedger replaced Grubauer and stopped five of the six shots he faced.
Zegras opened the scoring at 10:04 of the first period. Kevin Shattenkirk tracked down a deflected Seattle shot in his own end and banked a pass off the boards to send Zegras up the right wing on a two-on-two break. After crossing the Seattle blue line, Zegras cut across the high slot and fired a shot that made its way into the net as Grubauer was being upended by teammate Jared McCann.
The Ducks made it 2-0 as Grant scored an unassisted short-handed goal on a two-on-one break, skating down the left wing and putting a shot under Grubauer's left leg pad.
Terry extended the lead to 3-0 with a power-play goal 1:52 into the second, pouncing on a rebound in the slot before patiently putting a shot into the upper right corner of the net.
The Kraken got on the board on Donato's goal with the man advantage at 14:26 of the second. Jordan Eberle made a nifty cross-ice pass to Donato, who tipped the puck past Stolarz.
Carrick restored the three-goal lead at 8:19 of the third, banking a shot off the back of Driedger's skate from just beneath the goal line on the left wing.
