Oilers 2, Devils 1: Nail Yakupov scored a power-play goal in the second period to snap a tie as Edmonton posted its first regulation win on the road since Nov. 9.
Defenseman Oscar Klefbom also tallied and Jordan Eberle notched two assists for the Oilers, who rebounded from Saturday's 5-1 setback to Toronto that opened a six-game road trip to secure their fifth victory in nine contests. Ben Scrivens finished with 13 saves to record his first road win of the season (1-7-5).
All-Star Patrik Elias scored his 401st career goal and Cory Schneider turned aside 22 shots in his league-leading 46th start for the Devils, who suffered their first regulation loss in nine home games (6-1-2). Martin Havlat and Travis Zajac each notched an assist on Elias' eighth tally of the season.
Yakupov was bloodied after being involved in an open-ice collision with New Jersey's Steve Bernier in the first period but looked no worse for wear when he snapped his 11-game goal-scoring drought in the second. The top overall pick of the 2012 draft, Yakupov beat Schneider from the right faceoff circle with his third one-timer on the man advantage with 7:15 remaining in the session to give Edmonton a 2-1 lead.
After being honored for reaching the 400-goal, 600-assist and 1,000-point plateaus prior to the game, Elias drew first blood 5:47 into the contest as his shot from the right circle handcuffed Scrivens. Edmonton answered with 36 seconds remaining in the first period, when Eberle made a slick feed from behind the end line to set up Klefbom's one-timer from the left circle.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The Oilers' last regulation win on the road was a 3-1 victory over the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden. ... New Jersey RW Jaromir Jagr saw his four-game point streak come to an end. He collected two goals and two assists during the run. ... Edmonton LW Benoit Pouliot sat out his third straight contest with a foot injury.
