Captain Jonathan Toews scored a shorthanded goal and added two assists - all in the second period - to lead the visiting Chicago Blackhawks to a 7-4 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday.
Nick Leddy, Duncan Keith, Viktor Stalberg, Patrick Kane, Dave Bolland and Marian Hossa also scored for the Blackhawks while Marty Turco made 29 saves. Chicago matched its season high in goals.
After Columbus struck twice early in the second period to take a 3-2 lead, the Blackhawks replied with four straight goals. Stalberg recorded his eighth of the campaign at 4:52 from Frenando Pisani and Toews before the captain set up Kane for his 14th goal.
Toews then scored his 18th at 19:20 with teammate Jack Skille serving a delay-of-game penalty.
Bolland scored his 11th in the third period to make it 6-3 before Matt Calvert cut the deficit with less than six minutes to play in regulation. However, Hossa added an empty-net goal while Columbus was on the power play.
Derek Dorsett opened the scoring 3:57 into the first period with his third goal of the season. Leddy replied with his second tally of the season before Keith scored on a one-timer while Chicago was on the power play at the 17:44 mark.
Derick Brassard tied the game with his 13th goal 1:40 into the second period and Samuel Pahlsson gave Columbus the lead 42 seconds later.
Columbus’ Steve Mason was pulled at the second intermission after making 17 saves. Mathieu Garon stopped three shots in the third period.
