The Philadelphia Flyers did a much better job protecting a smaller lead on Sunday against the Detroit Red Wings than they did a bigger lead on Saturday.
Oskar Lindblom scored two goals and Ivan Provorov scored the game winner early in the third period to lead the Flyers to a 3-1 win in Detroit on Sunday, completing a weekend sweep.
On its home ice on Saturday, Philadelphia beat Detroit 6-5 in overtime after blowing a 5-1 lead in the third period.
But the Flyers were up to the task of protecting a one-goal lead this time in the third period.
The Flyers opened the scoring with 4:12 remaining in the first period on a goal by Lindblom.
Sean Couturier skated behind the net and fed a pass in front of the goal to Lindblom, who tipped the puck off of the skate of Detroit defenseman Nick Jensen and into the goal.
Detroit tied the game at 1-1 with 5:11 remaining in the second period on a goal by Darren Helm, who put home a rebound off of a shot from the point by Niklas Kronwall.
Philadelphia grabbed a 2-1 lead with 17:49 in the third period remaining when Provorov scored.
Phil Varone sent a pass toward the point to Provorov, who fired an innocent-looking shot that went through traffic in front of Red Wings goalie Jimmy Howard and into the goal.
Lindblom then added his second goal with 1:26 remaining, scoring into an empty net after the Red Wings pulled Howard with just under two minutes left.
Philadelphia goalie Carter Hart made 37 saves in net for the Flyers, who have won three games in a row and four out of their last five.
Detroit outshot Philadelphia, 38-23.
Red Wings starting goalie Jonathan Bernier left the game after the first period with an upper-body injury and was replaced by Howard, Detroit's usual starter.
