Jonathan Marchessault scored on a penalty shot 2:24 into overtime as the Vegas Golden Knights rallied for a 4-3 victory over the Ottawa Senators on Sunday night in Las Vegas.

Marchessault was hooked by Mark Stone as he broke into the Ottawa zone on a breakaway to set up his first ever penalty try. The Vegas center then came in from the right side of the slot and rifled a shot past Senators goalie Craig Anderson's glove side for his sixth goal of the season.

Alex Tuch had his second career two-goal game and Ryan Reaves also scored for Vegas. Erik Haula added a pair of assists for the Golden Knights, who finished with a team-record 53 shots on goal compared to just 22 for the Senators.

Marc-Andre Fleury had 19 saves for the Golden Knights. Vegas, which went 3-1-1 on its five-game game homestand that ended Sunday, plays six of its next seven games on the road starting with a Tuesday night game at Nashville.

Ryan Dzingel had a goal and an assist, and Bobby Ryan and Matt Duchene also scored goals for Ottawa. Thomas Chabot added two assists, and Anderson finished with 49 saves for the Senators.

Duchene gave Ottawa a 1-0 lead just 3:08 into the contest when he put in a rebound of a Cody Ceci shot for his fourth goal of the season and third goal in two games. Ceci fired a shot from the right point, and Duchene scooped up the rebound to the left of the crease and then wristed a shot under the crossbar.

Ryan made it 2-0 midway through the second period with a power-play goal. Stone's shot from the right circle caromed off the boards behind the net directly to a wide-open Ryan on the left side, and Ryan fired it past Fleury.

Vegas came back to tie it with two goals in less than three minutes, the first by Tuch who finished an end-to-end rush with a backhand through Anderson's pads for his first goal of the season at 15:14 of the second period. Reaves followed with a power-play goal, wrapping in a rebound of a Colin Miller blast from the high slot around Anderson's left leg for his third goal of the season at 18:21 of the middle period.

Dzingel put Ottawa back in front at the 7:49 mark of the third period, slapping in a crossing pass from Chris Wideman. But Tuch tied it 28 seconds later when he deflected Nick Holden's shot from the right point through Anderson's pads.
