Indiana's Peyton Ramsey threw for 351 yards and two touchdowns and ran for another score to lead the Hoosiers to a 38-31 win over Nebraska on Saturday in Lincoln, Neb.
The Hoosiers (6-2, 3-2 Big Ten) became bowl eligible for only the fourth time in the past 25 seasons.
The Cornhuskers (4-4, 2-3) were coming off a bye week after losing 34-7 at Minnesota the week before.
Both teams came in with question marks at quarterback. Ramsey got the nod over a banged-up Michael Penix Jr. for the Hoosiers, while Noah Vedral started for Adrian Martinez, who suffered an apparent knee injury on Oct. 5 and missed his second straight game.
Ramsey completed 27 of 40 passes with one interception.
Vedral was knocked out of the game with five minutes to go in the half, although he did return in the fourth quarter.
Vedral's replacement, Luke McCaffrey, marched the Cornhuskers 74 yards in 1:13, capped by a 23-yard touchdown pass to Kanawai Noa near the end of the second quarter to give Nebraska a 21-16 lead at halftime.
The Hoosiers regained the lead on David Ellis' 1-yard jet-sweep run at the 7:30 mark of the third quarter. McCaffrey then directed a 13-play drive that ended with Barret Pickering's game-tying field goal from 30 yards out.
Indiana took a 31-24 lead on the final play of the third quarter and recovered a fumble early in the fourth quarter that it converted into a touchdown when Stevie Scott III ran for a 9-yard score to put the Hoosiers up 38-24.
On the ensuing possession, the Huskers capitalized on two 15-yard penalties on the same play en route to Wan'Dale Robinson's 4-yard run to cut the deficit to 38-31 with 10:21 left.
Nebraska's offense took over with 6:36 left after the Blackshirts defense forced a punt. More than two hours after leaving the game, Vedral returned and drove the Cornhuskers to the Hoosiers' 34-yard line before giving up the ball on downs.
Indiana was making its first appearance in Lincoln since 1977. The teams played in front of the 373rd straight sellout at Memorial Stadium.
