North Carolina State started strong and never looked back in earning a 79-56 victory over foul-prone IUPUI in Raleigh at PNC Arena on Wednesday.
Four starters finished in double figures for the Wolfpack (2-1), led by guard Anthony Barber's 19 points. Guards Caleb Martin and Maverick Rowan each had 15, while forward Abdul-Malik Abu just missed a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds.
Forward Matt O'Leary had 17 points to lead the Jaguars (1-2). Guard Mason Archie II added 11.
The Wolfpack began the game on a 10-2 run and never trailed. North Carolina State led 38-27 at the half, and the Panthers never got closer than eight points after that.
The margin of victory would have been more lopsided had State taken advantage of its opportunities at the free throw line.
The Jaguars committed 34 fouls on the night, compared to the Wolfpack's 17. Forward Evan Hall and guards Marcellus Barksdale and T.J. Henderson fouled out, and four other IUPUI players finished with four fouls, but NC State made just 23 of its 39 attempts from the stripe.
