Vanderbilt 57, Texas A&M 54 (OT): James Siakam had 16 points and 10 rebounds as the Commodores rallied late in regulation and pulled away for a home win in overtime.
Rod Odom, who came into the game averaging 15 points, scored just eight on 3-of-18 shooting, but his jumper with four seconds to play in regulation tied the game for Vanderbilt (14-10, 6-6 SEC) and sent the contest to overtime. Kyle Fuller scored 12 points while Damian Jones had 10 points and 13 rebounds.
Jamal Jones led Texas A&M (14-11, 5-7) with 17 points — including five 3-pointers — and 13 rebounds. Kourtney Roberson added 11 points and four steals for the Aggies, who finished 9-of-20 from the free-throw line.
Texas A&M jumped on top from the get-go, scoring the game's first 10 points to take a lead it would hold throughout the half. Vanderbilt got the lead down to one with just under two minutes to play on Odom's 3-pointer, but the Aggies scored the last three points for a four-point advantage going to the break.
It was more of the same in the second half, with the lead reaching 11 on Jordan Green's 3-pointer with just over six minutes to play before the Commodores closed on a 16-6 run, capped by four points in the final nine seconds. Jones' layup with one minute gone in the extra period gave Vanderbilt its first lead of the game, and it never gave it up, hitting six free throws the rest of the way.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The Commodores shot 30.9 percent from the field, including 3-of-26 shooting from 3-point range. … Vanderbilt won the rebound battle, 41-38. … Roberson and Jones combined to shoot 10-of-19 from the field, while the other eight Aggies that played combined to shoot 8-for-30.
