No. 20 Kansas 86, Kansas State 60: Andrew Wiggins scored 17 of his 22 points in the second half and the host Jayhawks rolled past the Wildcats in Big 12 play.
Wayne Selden Jr. tallied 20 points and Kansas (11-4, 2-0) shot 56.1 percent from the field against a team allowing just 58 points per game entering the contest. Perry Ellis scored 12 points and Joel Embiid contributed 11 points and nine rebounds.
Nino Williams scored 12 points to pace Kansas State (12-4, 2-1). Thomas Gipson added 10 points for the Wildcats, who were 1-of-11 from 3-point range while having a 10-game winning streak halted.
The Jayhawks assumed control with a 16-3 burst to open up a 16-point lead on Tarik Black’s dunk with 6:21 left in the first half. The lead was 17 at the break with Selden scoring 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting.
Kansas led 60-34 after two free throws by Wiggins with 14:32 remaining. That was part of a stretch in which the freshman scored 13 straight points and the Jayhawks led comfortably the rest of the contest.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Embiid drew a flagrant 2 foul and was ejected with 5:49 to play for delivering a forearm into the face of Williams. … The 26-point margin of the defeat is the second-largest of the season for the Wildcats, who lost 90-63 to Georgetown on Nov. 22. … The 20-point outing is the fifth of the season for Wiggins.
