No. 19 Memphis 89, Southern Mississippi 73: Shaq Goodwin and Chris Crawford each scored 19 points as the host Tigers extended their win streak to 18 games and clinched at least a share of the Conference USA regular-season title.
Crawford hit five of the Tigers' 11 3-pointers. Goodwin and D.J. Stephens (16 points) each went 6-of-7 from the floor for the Tigers (24-3, 13-0 C-USA).
Dwayne Davis led the Golden Eagles (21-7, 10-3) with 28 points. Jerrold Brooks hit four 3-pointers and had 16 points.
Southern Mississippi went nearly seven minutes without a basket as Memphis took control. Davis' jumper cut the Tigers' lead to 28-27 with 4:36 left in the first half but the Tigers pushed the lead to 22 before Davis scored again early in the second half.
Crawford hit two 3-pointers and three free throws during an 18-3 run to close the first half. Geron Johnson opened the second half with a 3-pointer and Goodwin added a three-point play for a 52-30 lead before Davis scored inside with 17:39 left.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The Tigers never trailed after a six-point possession late in the first half. An intentional foul on Goodwin's fast-break layup gave Memphis two free throws and the ball and Stephens' ensuing dunk made it 25-20. ... Memphis had five players in double figures for the sixth time this season. ... The Golden Eagles are 7-86 all-time against ranked teams, including 11 straight losses.
