No. 5 Indiana 69, Iowa 65: Cody Zeller had 19 points and 10 rebounds to help the visiting Hoosiers earn a victory over the Hawkeyes in the Big Ten opener for both teams.
Indiana (13-1) was up eight at halftime, but Iowa wouldn't go away. The Hawkeyes remained close throughout until the Hoosiers' free throws down the stretch held them off.
Victor Oladipo added 14 points and 10 rebounds for Indiana, which won the rebound battle 45-36 against an Iowa team that came in averaging 41.6 boards.
Iowa (11-3) was paced by Aaron White's 15 points and Roy Devyn Marble's 14 points and nine rebounds. Marble was 1-for-14 from the floor, including 0-for-4 from behind the 3-point line, but hit 12 of his 13 attempts from the free throw line.
The Hawkeyes' 65-point effort was their fewest since a 75-63 loss to Wichita State on Nov. 21.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Indiana came into the game hitting 42.1 percent of its shots from 3-point range, but connected on just 4-of-14 (28.6 percent) against the Hawkeyes. … Iowa freshman C Adam Woodbury fouled out for the first time in his career. In his first 13 games this year, he hadn't committed more than three. … The Hoosiers get a week off before their next game, a Jan. 7 contest at Penn State. The Hawkeyes jump from one top five team to another, heading to Ann Arbor to face No. 2 Michigan on Sunday.
