Dan Haren pitched a one-hitter and the Los Angeles Angels snapped the visiting Cleveland Indians’ eight-game winning streak with a 2-0 victory on Tuesday.
Haren (3-0) threw 125 pitches while giving up just two walks and striking out eight in his third career shutout. The right-hander, who worked an inning of relief in the Angels’ 14-inning win over Kansas City last Saturday, has allowed just two earned runs in 24 2/3 innings over his first four appearances.
Shin-Soo Choo recorded the Indians’ lone hit with a single in the fourth inning. Haren yielded third and seventh-inning walks.
The Angels took a 1-0 lead on Peter Bourjos’ leadoff homer in the third inning off Cleveland starter Fausto Carmona, and Mark Trumbo added an insurance run with his first major league home run in the seventh.
Carmona (0-2) gave up two runs and four hits with three walks and six strikeouts over 7 2/3 innings.
