Infielder Seth Mejias-Brean hit a two-run home run with no outs in the bottom of the 10th inning to give the San Diego Padres a 6-4 walk-off win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday afternoon.

The win was the first for interim manager Rod Barajas, who took over on Saturday after the firing of manager Andy Green.

Greg Garcia opened the 10th with an opposite-field double into the left-field corner off Diamondbacks right-handed reliever Yoan Lopez.

Mejias-Brean, who earlier hit a run-scoring single as the Padres overcame an early 4-0 deficit, then drove a 1-1 pitch into the left field seats for his second homer in his ninth game since making his major league debut on Sept. 3.

Matt Strahm (6-10) earned the win with one strikeout in a perfect top of the 10th as the Padres avoided being swept with their fifth walk-off win of the season. Lopez (2-7) took the loss as Arizona fell to six games behind the second National League wild-card berth with six to play.

Seven Padres relievers held Arizona scoreless on four hits and two walks over the final 8 1/3 innings after Arizona scored four times in the second off Padres starter Garrett Richards, who was making his second start since having Tommy John surgery more than a year ago.

Christian Walker drew a lead-off walk and scored on Adam Jones' one-out homer. Nick Ahmed followed with a triple and scored on a single by Carson Kelly.

Kelly was bunted to second by pitcher Robbie Ray and then scored on a double by Abraham Almonte.

The Padres halved the deficit on a two-run homer from Ty France in the fourth, and they tied the game with two more runs in the sixth.

Both innings opened with Hunter Renfroe drawing a walk. In the sixth, France was then hit by a pitch, and both runners scored on back-to-back hits with two outs: a single by Mejias-Brean and a double by pinch hitter Francisco Mejia.

France was also hit by a pitch in the seventh.

Ray worked 5 1/3 innings, giving up four runs on three hits and four walks with 10 strikeouts.

Padres center fielder Manuel Margot robbed Walker of what would have been a tiebreaking, two-run, two-out homer in the seventh with a leaping catch just above the wall in center.
