DJ LeMahieu homered on the first pitch of the 11th inning as the New York Yankees beat the Oakland Athletics for the first time in five tries this season, recording a 4-3 victory Saturday afternoon at Yankee Stadium.

Aaron Judge hit a game-tying homer off Joakim Soria with two outs in the eighth and then made a leaping catch in front of the right-field fence on Matt Chapman's possible homer in the 10th.

LeMahieu, who struck out three times, won it when he hit a first-pitch fastball from Lou Trivino (4-6) into the right-field seats. He flipped his helmet upon reaching home plate and was doused with Gatorade by Brett Gardner.

It was LeMahieu's third career walk-off hit and second this season.

Aided by Judge's catch and a double play in the 11th, Cory Gearrin (1-2) pitched two scoreless innings to earn his first win since joining the Yankees last week.

Chapman gave Oakland a 3-2 lead with a one-out double in the seventh off Adam Ottavino on a ball that stayed fair by hitting the left-field foul line and caroming to the warning track.

Matt Olson hit a two-run homer in the fourth, had three hits and reached base five times for Oakland.

Gary Sanchez hit solo homers in consecutive at-bats off starter Homer Bailey and recorded his 13th career regular-season multi-homer game.

Oakland left the bases loaded in the sixth through the eighth inning while the Yankees used five pitchers. Overall, Oakland went 1-for-10 with runners in scoring position.

Jonathan Loaisiga escaped in the sixth and Tommy Kahnle kept it a one-run game by retiring Jurickson Profar to end the seventh. Chad Green entered after Zack Britton's right calf cramped up and struck out Olson to end the eighth.

Bailey nearly beat the Yankees for the third time this season, allowing two runs on four hits in 5 2/3 innings. He struck out nine, walked one and threw 99 pitches.

New York's Domingo German missed a chance at becoming the first 18-game winner in the majors, allowing two runs on four hits in five innings. He struck out five, walked three and threw 90 pitches.
