Marlins 3, Giants 2: Casey McGehee homered and Adeiny Hechavarria scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch in the seventh inning as host Miami edged San Francisco to salvage the finale of a three-game series.
Brad Hand (1-2) outdueled red-hot Tim Lincecum, allowing two runs on six hits with four strikeouts over a career high-matching seven innings for the Marlins. McGehee recorded a pair of hits, including his two-run blast in the first inning, as Miami snapped a six-game losing streak.
Buster Posey recorded two hits, a walk and knocked in a pair of runs for the Giants, who saw their three-game winning streak come to an end. Lincecum (9-6), who had yielded only one run during his four-start winning streak, gave up three on five hits Sunday while striking out seven in as many innings.
Hechavarria doubled to lead off the seventh for the Marlins, moved to third on Jeff Mathis' bunt and sprinted home when Lincecum threw a pitch in the dirt that got past catcher Hector Sanchez. Bryan Morris tossed a 1-2-3 eighth inning and Steve Cishek pitched a perfect ninth for his 21st save.
McGehee drilled a hanging 0-2 pitch from Lincecum way over the left-field fence with two outs in the first for his second of the season and a 2-0 lead. Hunter Pence (two hits) and Marco Scutaro singled with one out in the third and both came home when Posey hooked a double into the left-field corner to tie the game.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Pence, Posey and 3B Pablo Sandoval each finished with five hits in the series for the Giants and McGehee also had five for Miami, giving him 120 on the season – tops in the National League. … The Marlins recalled RHP Anthony DeSclafani and optioned INF Ed Lucas to Triple-A New Orleans. … San Francisco begins a four-game series at Philadelphia and Miami starts a seven-game road trip against Atlanta on Monday.
