Phillies 12, Marlins 2: Cliff Lee struck out a season-high 14 and set career highs with three hits and four RBIs to power host Philadelphia in the series opener.

Chase Utley belted a three-run homer and knocked in four runs and Darin Ruf added a two-run blast and scored three times as the Phillies beat Miami for the sixth consecutive time and improved to 10-4 in the season series.

Lee (14-6) won his fourth straight decision by allowing two runs on eight hits in eight innings to run his record against the Marlins to 5-1. He helped himself with a two-run single to cap a six-run third, plated a run in the fifth with his first career triple and capped his huge night with an RBI single in the seventh.

Sam Dyson (0-1) had a forgettable first major-league start, lasting only 2 2/3 innings and getting rocked for seven runs on six hits. He allowed three walks in the decisive third inning and surrendered Utley's three-run shot before Lee ended his night with his two-run single for a 7-1 lead.

Justin Ruggiano had a pair of hits and an RBI double and Adeiny Hechavarria singled in a run for the Marlins, who tumbled to their third straight defeat and ninth loss in 11 games.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Lee went over 200 strikeouts for the third time in four seasons and also became the only active National League pitcher to surpass 200 innings for the sixth straight season. ... Marlins 3B Ed Lucas had a pair of doubles and is 5-for-12 in four games against the Phillies. ... Utley's 17th homer was his first blast since Aug. 21, ending a 22-game drought, and gave him his highest homer total since swatting 31 in 2009.
