Brewers 5, Dodgers 2: Carlos Gomez drove in a pair of runs and five relievers combined for 5 2/3 scoreless innings as host Milwaukee evened the series at a game apiece.
Gomez's two-run double was the biggest blow in a four-run fifth inning and snapped a 2-2 tie. It also chased Los Angeles starter Zack Greinke (2-1), who was charged with five runs on nine hits in four-plus innings while suffering his first loss in 16 career decisions at Miller Park.
Brewers starter Hiram Burgos lasted just 3 1/3 innings, allowing two runs on six hits with four walks. But Mike Fiers, Michael Gonzalez, John Axford and Brandon Kintzler combined for 4 2/3 scoreless frames to get the ball to Jim Henderson, who stranded two runners while striking out the side in the ninth for his ninth save in as many chances.
Fiers (1-2) earned the win by allowing two hits in 1 2/3 innings and working out of a bases-loaded jam he inherited from Burgos in the fourth. He stranded two more in the fifth as the Dodgers went 3-for-14 with runners in scoring position and left 14 men on base.
Jonathan Lucroy opened the scoring for Milwaukee with an RBI single in the first, but the Dodgers answered with two in the fourth. Greinke tied it with an RBI single and Nick Punto followed with a run-scoring single for a 2-1 lead.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Lucroy, who entered the game in a 2-for-23 skid, went 3-for-4 to raise his average from .208 to .225. It's only his second three-hit game of the season. … Greinke entered the night with a 15-0 mark and a 2.89 ERA in 24 games (23 starts) at Miller Park. … The Brewers improved to 4-15 in May, while the Dodgers fell to 5-13 this month.
