Shane McClanahan earned his major-league-leading 11th win and Randy Arozarena homered and drove in four runs as the visiting Tampa Bay Rays beat the San Diego Padres 6-2 on Friday.
McClanahan (11-1) didn't allow a run until the last hitter he faced, Nelson Cruz, hit a solo homer with two outs in seventh inning, cutting San Diego's lead to 6-1.
The left-hander gave up three hits and three walks while striking out five to lower his ERA to a majors-best 2.12.
San Diego's other hits off McClanahan -- a second-inning single by Jake Cronenworth and a third-inning double by Fernando Tatis Jr. -- both came with two outs.
Meanwhile, the Rays scored six runs in five innings against Yu Darvish (5-5). The San Diego starter yielded eight hits and a walk while striking out five.
Down by four, the Padres loaded the bases with one out in the ninth against Shawn Armstrong and brought Tatis to the plate representing the tying run. Pete Fairbanks replaced Alexander and got Tatis to ground into a game-ending double play on his second pitch to earn his seventh save.
Isaac Paredes put the Rays on the board when he lined his 12th homer of the season leading off the second -- a 355-foot, low line driver into the left field corner.
Tampa Bay added a second run in the fourth when Luke Raley led off with a double to the wall in right-center and scored on Arozarena's single to left.
The Rays broke the game open in a four-run fifth capped by Arozarena's 13th homer.
Taylor Walls opened the inning with a double and scored on a single by Jose Siri, who stole second before being thrown out at third trying to advance on a grounder by Yandy Diaz. After Wander Franco fouled out, Diaz advanced to third on Raley's second straight double -- a line drive to center that bounced off the glove of Trent Grisham. Arozarena followed with a 402-foot drive to center, a three-run shot.
After Cruz's homer in the seventh, the Padres scored another run in the eighth on a leadoff single by Tatis and a two-out double by Xander Bogaerts off Zack Littell.
