Atlanta's Ronald Acuna Jr. singled with two out in the ninth to drive home Adeiny Hechavarria with the winning run and give the Braves a 3-2 win over the visiting Miami Marlins on Thursday.
Hechavarria started the inning with a double to left field against Ryne Stanek. Hechavarria advanced to third on a long fly ball by pinch-hitter Charlie Culberson and scored on Acuna's hit.
Acuna took advantage by lining a single to center field, his 88th RBI of the season, to give the Braves their third walkoff win over the Marlins this season.
The winning pitcher was Mark Melancon (5-2), who pitched a scoreless ninth. Stanek (0-3) took the loss and also suffered his second blown save.
The Braves finished the season 15-4 against the Marlins and completed a 7-2 homestand.
The Marlins have lost 12 straight games on the road, the longest streak by any club since the Marlins lost 12 straight in 2018.
Atlanta's Mike Soroka threw six scoreless innings before the Marlins caught up with him for two runs in the seventh. He allowed back-to-back singles to Brian Anderson and Neil Walker to start the inning and surrendered a two-run double to Starlin Castro.
Those were the only two runs allowed by Soroka in his seven innings. He gave up five hits and struck out five. It was the sixth straight game in which Soroka has not received a decision.
Miami's Sandy Alcantara also left without a decision. He worked seven innings and allowed one run, unearned, on three hits, two walks and seven strikeouts. Alcantara's biggest moment came in the fifth when he retired Freddie Freeman on a long fly ball with the bases loaded.
The Braves scored a run against Alcantara in the second inning when Hechavarria singled home Josh Donaldson.
The Braves tied the game 2-2 in the eighth inning when Freddie Freeman hit a home run to left-center field against reliever Stanek. It was Freeman's 34th homer, matching the career high he set in 2016, and his third home run of the three-game series.
