Mets 6, Rangers 5: Travis d'Arnaud snapped a tie with a two-run double in the eighth inning as host New York held on to snap its four-game losing streak.
Lucas Duda belted a two-run homer and Eric Campbell went 3-for-3 with a run and an RBI for the Mets, who began their 10-game homestand in winning fashion following a 1-6 road trip. Bobby Abreu scored two runs and drove in another while Jenrry Mejia (5-3) notched the win despite allowing an unearned run in 1 1/3 innings as starter Jon Niese exited with a lower back contusion after getting hit by a line drive off the bat of Alex Rios - the third hitter of the game.
Shin-Soo Choo and Adrian Beltre went deep while Elvis Andrus collected three hits and scored a run for the Rangers, who have lost 10 straight road games and 14 of 16 overall. Aaron Poreda (2-1) took the loss and ace Yu Darvish surrendered four runs and five hits in five innings after having his start pushed back a day due to weather.
Texas wasted little time getting on the scoreboard as Choo deposited Niese's third pitch of the game over the wall in right-center field for his ninth blast of the season. New York erased the deficit quickly, with Abreu delivering a two-out RBI single in the bottom of the first and Duda following with his 13th homer.
Each team plated another run before Beltre belted a two-out solo shot in the fifth to get the Rangers within 4-3. Andrus reached on an error and scored on Chris Gimenez's groundout in the seventh to forge a tie, but d'Arnaud ripped a double to deep center off Jason Frasor in the eighth and Mejia yielded a run in the ninth before nailing down the victory.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Rangers RHP Neftali Feliz walked two and struck out two over two scoreless innings in his season debut after being recalled from Triple-A Round Rock earlier in the day. The 26-year-old Dominican appeared in six games late last year after undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2012. ... Inclement weather prevented Mets 3B David Wright (shoulder) from participating in full pregame drills, keeping him out of the lineup for a seventh straight game. ... New York RHP Dillon Gee (lat) allowed one run and three hits with 10 strikeouts over six innings in a rehab start for Single-A Brooklyn on Friday.
