Yoenis Cespedes homered and had two RBIs for the Athletics. Jarrod Parker (1-5) allowed four runs, seven hits and struck out a season-high seven in five innings in losing for the first time in three career starts against Cleveland.
With one out in the first inning, Kipnis and Cabrera launched back-to-back shots. Cabrera led off the fifth inning with a homer and two batters later Reynolds, who was hit by the next pitch following Cabrera's first-inning homer, crushed a high fastball to left an estimated 460 feet and stood at home plate to admire it for a bit.
Cleveland went on top 6-2 in the seventh inning when Jason Giambi delivered a two-run single to center field on a 3-2 pitch with the bases loaded and two outs. Reigning American League Player of the Week Ryan Raburn followed with a run-scoring double.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The Indians placed RHP Vinnie Pestano on the 15-day disabled list with elbow tendinitis and recalled LHP Nick Hagadone from Triple-A Columbus. Hagadone entered with the bases loaded and two outs in the sixth inning and struck out Josh Reddick looking to preserve the 4-2 lead. ... Raburn, who went 13-for-22 with four homers and nine RBIs last week, robbed Brandon Moss of extra bases with a running catch against the right field wall in the second inning. ... Oakland is 13-3 against the American League West and 5-12 against everyone else.
