Astros 11, White Sox 9: Justin Maxwell and Jose Altuve homered and drove in three runs apiece and Brett Wallace went deep to ignite a five-run sixth inning as visiting Houston took two of three from Chicago.
J.D. Martinez launched a solo shot and Chris Snyder highlighted the sixth-inning uprising with a two-run single for the Astros, who survived a late surge by Chicago to win for just the fourth time in 11 games.
The offensive outburst was welcomed by Lucas Harrell (6-4), who posted his fourth win in five starts. Harrell, who was a fourth-round draft pick of the White Sox in 2004, allowed five runs on six hits in 7 1/3 innings.
Orlando Hudson brought Chicago within two at 11-9 with a three-run homer off Fernando Rodriguez in the ninth inning. Brett Myers relieved Rodriguez and promptly retired the final two batters to secure his 15th save.
Philip Humber (2-4) continues to struggle since pitching a perfect game on April 21. Although he struck out nine, Humber yielded six runs on as many hits in 5 1/3 innings to take the loss.
Adam Dunn homered for the second straight day, launching his 20th of the season to lead off the sixth inning. Paul Konerko added a two-run shot and Alejandro De Aza had an RBI single for the White Sox.
GAME NOTEBOOK: After sitting out Saturday's game with cramping in both hamstrings, Chicago OF Dayan Viciedo returned to the lineup and went 0-for-3. ... The White Sox will continue their tour of the National League Central when they travel to the Gateway City for a three-game set with St. Louis. ... Houston will host San Francisco for a three-game series, which begins on Tuesday.
