Fernando Tatis Jr. hit three of the Padres' five home runs Friday night as San Diego defeated visiting Arizona 11-5, extending the Diamondbacks' major league record for consecutive road losses to 24 games.

The win was the Padres' eighth straight to open a 10-game homestand. The Diamondbacks have dropped 20 of their past 21 games overall.

Tatis' first two homers were both part of back-to-back sets as the Padres jumped out to 4-0 and 6-3 leads. Tommy Pham and Jake Cronenworth also went deep for San Diego, and Tatis finished 4-for-5 with four RBIs and four runs. He also tied Vladimir Guerrero Jr. for first in the majors with 25 home runs this season, and he is tops in the National League, three better than the Nationals' Kyle Schwarber.

Pham, San Diego's leadoff hitter, greeted Arizona starter Corbin Martin (0-3) with his seventh homer of the season to open the first, a shot to right field. Tatis followed with a blast to left-center. The Padres added two more runs in the inning on sacrifice flies by Wil Myers and Victor Caratini.

Tatis' second homer came off Arizona reliever Riley Smith with one out in the second. Cronenworth followed by homering in his fourth straight game.

Tatis' third homer of the game came off Smith in the fourth. The two-run shot (following Pham being hit by a pitch) upped the Padres' lead to 8-5.

The Diamondbacks scored five runs off Padres starter Chris Paddack in just 2 1/3 innings to pull to within a run of the lead. Paddack gave up eight hits and two walks while striking out two.

The Padres scored two runs in the seventh and one in the eighth on a combined seven hits off Arizona reliever Matt Peacock.

Tatis started the seventh-inning rally with his fourth hit, a single. He scored on a two-out single by Eric Hosmer, who in turn came home on Trent Grisham's double. Manny Machado singled home Pham in the eighth.

Josh Rojas had a two-run single for the Diamondbacks in the second, and Josh VanMeter drove in Rojas with a double. In the third, Pavin Smith, Christian Walker and Daulton Varsho had consecutive one-out singles ahead of a two-run double by Nick Ahmed, spelling the end of Paddack's night.

Martin was charged with four runs on three hits and two walks in one-third of an inning.

Nick Ramirez (1-1), who worked 1 2/3 scoreless innings in relief of Paddack, was credited with the win.
