Pinch hitter Adam Eaton had an RBI single, Leury Garcia hit a two-run triple and Tim Anderson contributed a sacrifice fly in the eighth.

Garrett Crochet (2-2) pitched a perfect eighth with two strikeouts to earn the win in the opener of a three-game series.

White Sox starter Carlos Rodon allowed one run, six hits and two walks in five innings. The left-hander struck out eight in his fifth straight start without a win.

Toronto left-hander Robbie Ray allowed one run on five hits and no walks while striking out a season-best 13 in 6 1/3 innings.

The Blue Jays opened the scoring in the second inning. Lourdes Gurriel Jr. led off with a double, took third on Santiago Espinal's single and scored on a sacrifice fly by Jonathan Davis.

Toronto's Riley Adams, a catcher making his major league debut, led off the fifth with a double and took third on a groundout. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. walked with two outs, but Rodon worked out of the inning when Teoscar Hernandez flied out on a 3-0 pitch.

Jose Ruiz replaced Rodon and worked around a walk in the sixth.

Vaughn hit his fifth homer of the season with one out in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game. Rafael Dolis replaced Ray and pitched around two walks and a single, leaving the bases loaded when he fanned Yoan Moncada.

The White Sox opened the bottom of the eighth with singles by Jose Abreu and Yermin Mercedes against Trent Thornton (1-2). Yasmani Grandal walked to load the bases, and Vaughn hit a sacrifice fly to the wall in center to put Toronto in front.

Carl Edwards Jr. came in and allowed three hits and a sacrifice fly.

White Sox closer Liam Hendriks pitched around a double in the ninth to seal the win in a non-save situation.

Before the game, Toronto put catcher Danny Jansen (hamstring) on the injured list and called up Adams.
