Andrew McCutchen hit two solo home runs, Brad Miller homered and drove in three runs and the host Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Milwaukee Brewers 6-5 on Tuesday.
Phillies starter Aaron Nola (3-1) tossed six strong innings and gave up five hits and one run. He struck out 10 and walked two in a 114-pitch effort as the Phillies won two in a row for the first time since April 4-5.
It was Nola's 18th career game with at least 10 strikeouts. Sam Coonrod recorded the last five outs for his second save.
Jackie Bradley Jr. homered and drove in two runs while Kolten Wong, Daniel Vogelbach and Travis Shaw had two hits apiece for the Brewers.
The Brewers played without Christian Yelich (back), who returned to the injured list one day after recording two hits in his first action since April 11.
Brewers starter Eric Lauer (1-1) pitched six innings and allowed eight hits and six runs, two earned, to go along with seven strikeouts and no walks.
The Brewers jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Vogelbach hit an RBI single.
The Phillies tied the game in the bottom of the first when McCutchen blasted a solo home run over the fence and into the bullpen in center field.
In the third, McCutchen ripped his second home run, this time to left, for a 2-1 Phillies lead. McCutchen registered his first multi-homer game with the Phillies and the 17th of his career. Gregorius soon added an RBI single.
Miller followed with a three-run home run into the second deck in right for a 6-1 lead.
The Brewers loaded the bases with one out in the sixth, but Billy McKinney flied out to left and Jacob Nottingham struck out swinging to end the threat.
Luis Urias hit an RBI single off David Hale to close the Brewers within 6-2 in the seventh. Enyel De Los Santos was scheduled to pitch but hadn't been placed on the lineup card. Pinch hitter Lorenzo Cain followed with an RBI groundout. Bradley added a two-run homer to center and they trailed 6-5.
