Cardinals 8, Astros 1: Tyler Greene hit two home runs and Adam Wainwright tossed seven strong innings as St. Louis snapped Houston's five-game winning streak.
Wainwright (2-3) won his fourth straight start against Houston, giving up one run on seven hits with one walk and seven strikeouts.
Allen Craig opened the scoring with a two-run blast in the first inning off J.A. Happ (2-2), who allowed six runs – five earned – on six hits and four walks over five innings.
St. Louis scored in each of the first four frames, with Greene’s two-run shot in the fourth giving the Cardinals a 6-0 lead.
Greene went 3-for-3 with four RBIs and a stolen base for the Cardinals, who ended their three-game losing streak. Craig went 2-for-4 and knocked in three runs.
Houston's Jordan Schafer went 0-for-4 and failed to get on base, snapping his streak of reaching safely at 25 straight games.
