Spencer Turnbull pitched 6 1/3 strong innings and the host Detroit Tigers scored four runs in the second to hand the Kansas City Royals their 11th consecutive loss, 4-3, on Thursday.

Turnbull (2-2) held the Royals to one run on six hits while striking out seven with one walk.

The Tigers, who were swept in a four-game series against the Royals earlier this season, completed a three-game sweep while extending their win streak to four games.

Michael Fulmer recorded his second save by getting the last two outs.

JaCoby Jones reached base three times while scoring a run and driving in another. Willi Castro also scored and knocked in a run, while Miguel Cabrera had two hits and scored a run. Eric Haase, making his season debut, also contributed two hits and a run scored, while Robbie Grossman added two hits and an RBI.

Rookie Daniel Lynch (0-2), making his third career start, gave up all of Detroit's runs on seven hits in 2 2/3 innings. One of the runs was unearned.

Salvador Perez had two hits and an RBI and Andrew Benintendi added three singles for the Royals.

The Tigers used an opposite-field approach to score their runs in the second.

Cabrera dropped a single just inside the right-field line. Haase ripped a double in the same direction to put runners in scoring position.

Castro hit a single to right to bring in Cabrera. Jones went the same way to knock in Haase and when Jorge Soler mishandled the ball, Jones reached second base while Castro stopped at third.

Akil Baddoo followed with a sacrifice fly before Grossman smacked a single to center to bring home Jones.

Kansas City scored a run in the fifth. Michael A. Taylor was hit by a pitch and moved to third on Nicky Lopez's single. Taylor scored when Whit Merrifield tapped into a double play.

Kansas City rallied in the ninth against Gregory Soto. Lopez walked and Merrifield doubled to put runners in scoring position. Carlos Santana's groundout brought in Lopez and a Perez single plated Merrifield.

Fulmer then came in and retired Soler on a popout before striking out Benintendi to end the game.
