Eduardo Escobar and Alex Avila each homered and drove in three runs as the Arizona Diamondbacks pounced on the Philadelphia Phillies' bullpen in an 8-4 victory on Tuesday night in Phoenix.

Escobar hit a two-run home run in the fourth off starter Jake Arrieta to tie the game at 2, but Arrieta left after five innings with a 3-2 lead.

Relief pitcher Ranger Suarez (3-1) allowed four of the five batters he faced to reach base in the sixth, with Avila delivering a two-run single with the bases loaded for a 4-3 lead. Arizona piled on three runs in the seventh off Blake Parker, with Escobar contributing an RBI single before David Peralta's two-run home run.

Avila added a solo shot to center off Zach Elfin in the eighth to make it 8-4 after Philadelphia scored in the top of the inning on back-to-back doubles by Scott Kingery and Adam Haseley.

In all, the three Philadelphia relievers gave up six runs and seven hits in three innings.

Arizona overcame three throwing errors and a 2-0 deficit after Haseley's RBI single in the fourth.

Arizona starter Mike Leake, acquired from the Seattle Mariners last week, gave up a home run to the first batter he faced, as Corey Dickerson smacked the third pitch of the game 463 feet over the center field wall.

Leake pitched with traffic on the bases all night, allowing 11 hits and one walk in 5 1/3 innings. He was helped by two double plays and clutch relief pitching in the sixth from Andrew Chafin (1-2), who struck out sluggers Rhys Hoskins and Bryce Harper with the bases loaded to end the inning.

Haseley and Jean Segura each had three of Philadelphia's 15 hits, but the Phillies left 12 runners on base while going just 2-for-17 with runners in scoring position.

Arrieta allowed five hits, struck out five and walked two.

The D-backs threatened against Arrieta in the fifth, putting runners on second and third with one out. But Harper saved a run by racing in from right field to make a diving catch toward the line before Escobar fouled out to end the inning.

Home plate umpire Tom Hallion ejected Arizona outfielder Jarrod Dyson in the eighth inning after Dyson argued a called strike to make the count 0-2.
