Oswaldo Arcia and Josh Willingham hit solo homers for the Twins, who had three home runs in a game for the first time this season. Nolasco (3-5) allowed a run on seven hits and four walks while striking out three to win for the first time in his last six starts.
Jacoby Ellsbury's RBI double accounted for New York's offense as the Yankees fell for the eighth time in their last 11 home games. Vidal Nuno (1-2) was tagged with the loss after he gave up four runs in 6 2/3 innings, striking out six against zero walks.
Arcia went deep for the second time in five games since being recalled Monday to make it 1-0 in the second. Ellsbury tied it in the third before Willingham homered, Arcia singled and Plouffe homered to begin the fourth and give the Twins a 4-1 lead.
Brett Gardner was thrown out at home for the second out of the Yankees' fifth and Arcia gunned down Brian Roberts trying to score to end the sixth. Kurt Suzuki added an RBI single in the eighth and former Yankee Eduardo Nunez followed with another to cap the scoring.
