Diamondbacks 4, Rockies 2: Nick Evans and Chris Owings hit back-to-back homers and Chase Anderson pitched six solid innings - improving to 4-0 after four major-league starts - to pace visiting Arizona.
Owings finished a single shy of the cycle and recorded two RBIs while Gerardo Parra also drove in a run for the Diamondbacks, who snapped a three-game losing streak. Anderson - already the first rookie starter in Arizona history to win his first three outings - allowed one run and four hits in the longest of his four starts.
DJ LeMahieu and Troy Tulowitzki homered for Colorado, which began a 10-game homestand by losing for the ninth time in its last 11 games. Jorge De La Rosa (6-4) lost for the first time in seven decisions after yielding three runs, three hits and three walks in seven innings while falling to 38-13 at Coors Field.
Evans, whose last homer came in 2011 while a member of the Mets, belted a 1-2 offering out to right to lead off the fourth and four pitches later, Owings delivered a shot over the wall in left. Ender Inciarte followed with a single, was sacrificed to second by Anderson, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on Parra's groundout.
LeMahieu crushed a 1-1 pitch out to left leading off the fifth - his second homer of the season and second in his last 12 at-bats - before the Diamondbacks restored their three-run bulge on Owings' two-out RBI double in the eighth. Addison Reed yielded Tulowitzki's 15th homer leading off the ninth before earning his 15th save.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Colorado LF Carlos Gonzalez left in the top of the sixth inning after inflammation reoccurred in his left index finger and is also battling a knee injury. ... Arizona on Tuesday placed INF Cliff Pennington on the 15-day disabled list - retroactive to Monday - with a sprained ligament in his left thumb and recalled INF Didi Gregorius from Triple-A Reno. ... De La Rosa didn't record a strikeout for the first time since July 17, 2010.
