Rangers 3, Yankees 0: Yu Darvish pitched 6 1/3 scoreless innings in his return from the 15-day disabled list and host Texas snapped a four-game losing streak.

Nelson Cruz homered and Geovany Soto and Adrian Beltre each had RBI hits as the Rangers won for only the second time in nine games in the opener of the four-game series. The stellar performance came hours after Texas acquired pitcher Matt Garza from the Chicago Cubs in a multi-player deal.

Darvish (9-4), making his first start since July 6, permitted only two hits - both to Lyle Overbay - to win for only the second time in his last 10 outings. Two relievers bridged the gap to closer Joe Nathan, who worked around a one-out single in the ninth to nail down his 31st save in 32 chances.

Darvish carried a one-hitter into the seventh but allowed his second hit and walked Vernon Wells with one out to bring on reliever Robbie Ross, who ended the threat by inducing Travis Hafner to hit into an inning-ending double play.

Ivan Nova (4-3) gave up three runs on seven hits in seven innings for New York, which fell to 1-5 in its last six games. Nova surrendered Beltre's run-scoring single in the first and Soto's RBI double in the sixth before Cruz launched his team-high 23rd homer in the seventh.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Rangers sent RHP Justin Grimm, a pair of minor-league prospects - 3B Mike Olt and highly touted Class A RHP C.J. Edwards - and at least one player to be named later to the Cubs in exchange for RHP Garza, who was 6-1 with a 3.17 ERA and won his last five starts. Garza will start against the Yankees on Wednesday night. ... Yankees 2B Robinson Cano went 0-for-4 to halt his 12-game hitting streak. ...
