Giants 19, Dodgers 3: Hunter Pence blasted his fourth career grand slam and drove in a career-high seven runs as San Francisco set a Dodger Stadium record for runs scored.
Brandon Belt went 5-for-6 with a homer, six RBIs and four runs scored for the Giants, who set a season high in runs as they recorded their biggest winning margin of 2013. Los Angeles’ magic number to clinch the National League West remained at four with 14 games to play.
San Francisco scored three times in the first against Ricky Nolasco (13-10), who surrendered seven runs - five earned - on seven hits over 1 1/3 innings in the shortest outing of his career. Pence sparked the Giants’ four-run second with a two-run single and Pablo Sandoval followed with a two-run double to open a 7-1 lead.
Tim Lincecum (10-13) yielded three runs and five hits while striking out six over six frames, improving to 4-0 over his last five starts. Pence, who put the Giants ahead 12-1 with a grand slam off Stephen Fife in the fifth, homered for the third straight game and has four blasts in his last five contests.
The Giants recorded a season-high 22 hits and won for the fifth time in their last seven games. Alex Castellanos produced a rare Los Angeles highlight when he led off the fifth inning as a pinch hitter and belted his second career home run.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The Dodgers played without SS Hanley Ramirez (back) and OF Andre Ethier (left ankle), who are both expected to miss Sunday’s series finale. … Giants C Johnny Monell and SS Ehire Adrianza each collected their first major league hit. … The Giants had two players drive in six or more runs for the first time since June 8, 1990, when Rick Parker and Will Clark each had six RBIs.
