Dodgers 7, Diamondbacks 6: Hanley Ramirez homered twice among his four hits and A.J. Ellis went deep to lead off the eighth inning as visiting Los Angeles clinched the National League West title for the first time in four years.
Ramirez's three-run homer opened the scoring in the third inning before he forged a 6-6 tie by leading off the seventh with his 20th blast. Ellis provided the pivotal blow in the following frame after launching a first-pitch fastball from Josh Collmenter (4-4) over the wall in left field for his eighth homer - and first since Aug. 30.
Scott Van Slyke had an RBI double before scoring on Michael Young's sacrifice fly in the sixth inning for the Dodgers, who posted just their second win in seven outings.
Martin Prado ripped a two-run triple and Wade Miley added a two-run double to highlight a six-run third inning. Paul Goldschmidt and Miguel Montero also drove in a run apiece for the Diamondbacks.
J.P. Howell (3-1) was credited with the victory after recording two outs in the seventh inning. Brian Wilson worked a spotless eighth and Kenley Jansen struck out a pair in the ninth for his 26th save.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Los Angeles RHP Ricky Nolasco struggled mightily in his second straight start following a seven-game winning streak. After getting blitzed for seven runs in 1 1/3 innings against San Francisco, the 30-year-old permitted six runs on nine hits in five frames. Arizona's Miley allowed three runs on five hits in as many innings. ... Ramirez has hit safely in four straight contests and nine of his last 10. ... Los Angeles continues its 10-game road trip on Friday by opening a three-game set versus San Diego. Arizona opens a seven-game homestand with a three-game series at Colorado.
