Yankees 5, Orioles 4: Eduardo Nunez had two hits and two RBIs in his first game in more than two months to spark host New York to its season-high sixth consecutive victory.
Andy Pettitte (6-6) halted a three-game skid by giving up four runs (three earned) on nine hits in 6 2/3 innings to improve to 28-6 lifetime against Baltimore, which fell a half-game behind the Yankees in the battle for second place in the American League East. Two relievers bridged the gap to Mariano Rivera, who earned his 29th save in 30 chances before learning he was named to his 13th AL All-Star team.
Chris Davis hit his major league-leading 33rd homer in the first inning for the Orioles, but starter Chris Tillman couldn't protect a three-run lead and had his seven-game winning streak snapped. Tillman (10-3) allowed five runs on 10 hits - all singles - to lose for the first time since May 19.
After Davis went deep in the first and Alexi Casilla doubled in a run in the second to stake the Orioles to a 3-0 lead, the Yankees scored twice in the second and two more in the fifth. A walk and three straight singles - the last one by Luis Cruz - preceded a sacrifice fly by Nunez in the second before four straight hits in the fifth, including RBI singles by Ichiro Suzuki and Robinson Cano, pulled New York even at 4-4.
The Yankees pushed across the decisive run in the sixth when Lyle Overbay led off with his third hit, was sacrificed to second and scored on a single by Nunez, who was in the lineup for the first time since suffering a strained oblique on May 5. Taylor Teagarden had an RBI single in the fourth for the Orioles.

Pettitte registered his 251st career win, tying Bob Gibson for 46th place on the all-time list. ... Orioles 3B Manny Machado, who turned 21 Saturday, went 1-for-4 and notched his major league-leading 39th double. It's the second-highest double total prior to the All-Star break, behind the 42 by Edgar Martinez in 1996... The Orioles acquired INF Alex Liddi from Seattle on Saturday.
